Hi, I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder, model no. DMR-EZ28EB. It is displaying " No Read" on the machine and it won't read any discs including commercially produced discs. I have tried a laser cleaning disc but it won't read it either. it is only 4 years old but is this the life of the laser? Any help appreciated! Thanks.

Wouldn't have thought so - however did it stop working suddenly, or after a new location set up? If dropped or jarred the tracking can cause this to fail.0

No it is in the same position as it has been since it was installed. It makes an almighty noise when I try a disc as though it is going through the motions of firing into life. It unexpectedly fired into life one day and the split screens showing what was recorded on a discs suddenly appeared on the tv ( the tv and dvd player had power but had not been switched on) and I don't think it has worked since then.0

4 Years isn't a bad innings for a dvd recorder in my experience; I've had them die after as little as 18 months.
Even if this clean works, start planning for it to fail.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
I think it's a known issue with this brand - I've had 2 do the same (should've known better!) - 4 years is the max I've had out of one. Have moved on to Toshiba now - so far so good!0

Have you unplugged it for 20 minutes then tried.0

My in laws had a dvd recorder, might have been panasonic or phillips. The thing was problematic from week 1, and recently they upgraded their Virigin package to a Tivo box and my wife and i bought them a bluray player so the dvd recorder has gone in the bin.
I agree that 4 years is a decent lifetime for a device like that to have lasted...0
