IPhone problem

I've got IPhone 4 and the on/off button and the home button have become difficult to switch on and off. I have to really press down on them to operate them. My son said it could be fixed at a phone shop but is there a way I could do it myself? In other words, free.

Short answer is no.

Power button, and home button, problems are fairly common but need the phone opening up to fix them.

One common issue is that the flex cable that sits under the button gets worn and thin with use and needs replacing.

You'll need to open it it, determine what the problem is, it may not be what I've suggested, and then get the part so you can replace it.

Unless you're confident you can take it apart, identify the problem and then fix it then I'd get it done properly.
