Wicks Kitchens and fitters

We have had a quote from Wicks for a New Windsor range kitchen which with the reductions seems good value. However before signing I would like two points cleared up. Firstly Wicks want all the money up front including all the fitting costs. Is this normal we would have thought that only 50% of the fitting cost should be paid up front and the other 50% on completion. Also do Wicks use their own fitters and are they not sub contracted. Is there somewhere in the agreement that states Wicks are responsible for any fitting problems and not the fitters. Can anybody help pleaee

The advantage of using wicks fitters is hopefully you will have some guarantees backed by Wicks for faulty workmanship. The standard of work depends so much on the individual fitter. If you know someone whose work you have seen then possibly you might consider using them but do not go for someone unknown. I would not pay 100% of the labour charge at the time of ordering . not more than 60% with the remainder being paid when the work is completed. All company's need the business so go for a negotiation agreement on this issue threatening to go elsewhere if they do not comply. It is a buyers market. Good Luck0

I think you wold very unwise to pay all cows up front. If something goes wrong, you have no leverage at all.
It's likely that Wickes use sub contractors. Most 'sheds' do. Also remember that although Wickes want you to pay 100% up fron, the fitter will not get paid for 30 days after completion.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
