Currenlty have Mcafee on my computer.
Are they still the best or are Norton worth considering?

Here's a story about a recent set of tests which recommends something called Bitdefender (must admit I don't know much about it) as the best:

More details of the test results are here:

Go with avast free version, performs well and is free. Whilst better than it was, norton is less user-friendly and costs. I would never put McRapee anywhere near a pc

Ive had Norton Internet Security for three years and no viruses (touchwood) so can recommend it.
I did previously have avast (albeit over three years ago) and had several. Products change over the years and at the moment it works for me. As soon as it doesnt its back to the freeware.Old Faithful we roam the range together,

To me thats a lot .
Just bought Kaspersky 2012 free upgrade to 2013 2 PC and 2 mobile for £12 via Ebay . Full DVD shrink rapped not a fake or key .
Comments on McAffee none only ever use Eset or Kaspersky based on long term AV Comparative tests .

Malwarebytes is excellent (not an anti-virus; should be used in addition to an anti-virus) and I've heard good things about Microsoft Security Essentials.
I personally use AVG but only because I can't be bothered to try out anything else and I've used it for ages
