EDF- Where is my payment going?

Options
I pay EDF on the first of the month by DD yet It doesn't show on my EDF statement until 27th-29th of the month. Where does it go between leaving my bank account and showing on EDF nearly four weeks later?

I have just had a bill which shows a deficit and they want to increase my DD. However, my latest payment, two weeks before the bill date doesn't show, if it did I would not actually be in debt.

Anyone else had this?

My DD payment dates are within days of each other, but they're the other way around. Initial EDF bill: 3/10, 10/10, 2/11 & 4/12. Current account: 8/10, 15/10, 7/11 & 7/12.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)

I didn't go back as far as my initial payment, but didn't imagine a payment was showing in advance. Maybe that is the case and the arrears stand. Will look further back and check. Odd that a payment can show as received days before it was made. Thanks.

I had the same problem with EDF on a D/D payment date close to the end of the month
Sometimes it would be taken by the months end, and others not till early the following month - All of which makes it damn difficult to check both the bank statement and EDF's account

The solution is to ask EDF to change the D/D date to something near the middle of the month - That way if they are a few days adrift, it still appears on the same months bank statement and EDF bill.

The payment appears on your EDF statement on the day they REQUEST the direct debit;it then is debitted from your own current account some days later. eg my EDF statement shows a payment creditted on Thursday 11th April ...but it hasn't yet come out of my account -its showing as a future payment on 15th April.

Agree with the rest, My payment to EDF shows on my account a couple or so days before it is taken from my account.
So I am sure this is what is happening to the OP's account, what confuses it is that they appear in different months.

But surely, OP, three months ago or six months ago or twelve months ago there will have been a corresponding 'late' credit. So it makes no difference.

I had never heard of a payment being credited when it had not yet been taken, so I assumed that EDF had been 'holding' that payment for nearly four weeks. The difference it would have made is that I was showing an arrears when I thought they should have had another payment within that bill period.

Obviously, it would catch up in the end, but meanwhile they were wanting to increase my DD to cover a shortfall I thought shouldn't be there.

The total amount would have been the same when it caught up, I agree, but what I didn't want was an increased DD if I was already paying enough to cover my usage.
