Parking Charge received from UKPC

Hi all
I received a parking charge today whilst parked in a shopping complex. I had already done my food shopping, put it away in the car and wanted to drive closer to the next shop I intended to visit (this is quite a large complex, I'm also pregnant and have back pain)
After a few minutes in the car, I felt the urge to be sick. I couldn't find a parking space so in my panic I parked at the end of a space on horizontal lines and hurried into the nearest restaurant. I was gone a total of 5 minutes. I then moved to a suitable space and that is when I noticed the charge.
The charge reads: not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space.
I have read through the advice on these forums but have not noticed anyone that has been in my predicament.
I know that I should not have park there (because it not a bay, no signage to say you can't), however I feel it was an exceptional circumstance.
Any advice or help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thank you

Yes first but of advice is not to pay them anything.
If this is England or Wales you can appeal this and if they reject it you can go to the independent appeals popla, this is your right on rejection by ukpc. If in Scotland or NI just ignore them completely. Which is the other option if you prefer.
It's highly unlikely that they will attempt a small claim, as they never do court. I'm not sure if pregnancy is covered by the equality act, if its not it should be, if you were feeling unwell though it takes priority over parking a car within an advisory only bay. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

I got one of their fake tickets last year for exactly the same thing, and the wording was the same as yours.
UKPC are just a bunch of money demanding scammers, and this is how they do it.
Following advice on here I just ignored their stupid charge, and the seven fake demanding letters that followed from them, Debt recovery plus, and their alter ego Zenith collections.
Someone will be along soon to advise you your options I'm sure, but don't pay these festering, brain dead, morons.0 -
Dont worry be HAPPY and ignore the scummers the just the scum of the earth praying on soft touches to fatten there grubby bank account up to the hilt.:money:PPCs say its carpark management, BPA say its raising standards..... we all know its just about raking in the revenue. :eek:0

Ignore the scammers, chances of them doing court is as close to zero as you can get.0

I recommend appealing and using POPLA to get this cancelled, as mentioned by Stroma. And including the Shopping Centre Management in your first appeal/challenge letter so they can consider if they actually want to lose the business of a whole local family over this incident?!
The retail park could cancel it so try that first.
And relax about this fake PCN because it's from UKPC, who don't do Court EVER except when people take them there for law breaking - twice that we know of!

Nothing to worry about but try the appeal option to UKPC and the Centre, simply explaining your emergency and that this has upset you so much it has now put you off returning to the Retail Park. Lay it on thick that they will have lost your business and you'll copy in the local paper if they don't cancel it.
Send a copy of your letter to the management of the Retail Park as well (easily found in any newspaper article on Google about that Centre).
IF this is then rejected, you should be offered a POPLA appeal code and we can then help you to word this in a legal challenge way (not the same appeal as you try at first). DO NOT waste your POPLA appeal, do not use such a soft approach at that stage - so do come back and tell us what response you get to an appeal letter to the retail park and UKPC.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks Coupon-mad. I think I will give this approach a try. I will keep everyone updated. And look forward to your help with the POPLA appeal should I need it.0 -
Hi just a quick update:
Before I was about to send an appeal I thought it was best to go back to the Supermarket and see what they could do for me. Although they seemed a bit reluctant at first, I stressed the situation and they said they would email the company and ask them to cancel it.
48hrs later:
I received a phone call today to say this had been done, and I'm going to collect some written confirmation this evening.
Thank you for all that responded.0 -
Well done. :T
That approach is definitely worth trying, even if just to raise complaints again and again with the Supermarkets who let these scammers prey on their customers.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
