  • Thanks for all the advice, I probably won't send the email, just felt better writing it down, I do feel sorry for my son just hope it won't put other buyers off.

As far as return postage goes, I normally refund that as well but we'll just have to chalk this one up to experience.

Quite - and there are lots of people complaining about it on the ebay boards - at least those boards and these are a (small) way of letting people know.
To be honest it has to be one of the worst idea`s ebay has had.
The biggest problem is before you even start the sellers back is up before they have even replied.
This gives rise to the sellers response being a tad defensive and as the op stated " I also mentioned that normally in these cases contact is made between the two parties before a case is opened." which in turn puts the buyers back up as they think they are being reprimanded which results in the buyer walking away and negging, instead of both parties coming to a mutually agreed solution.
Indeed. There's a discussion on here somewhere about it aswell, hopefully the cases don't count negatively against sellers.

I think if a seller resolves the situation without the case being escalated it does not count against the sellers account.

Tell Ebay the buyer threatened negative feedback if they didnt get some money back - and it will be removed.
