Microsoft Word 2007 Product Key

I've had my laptop for about 3 years and i've never had to use Word until now and it's asking me for a product key. Would it be on the box the computer came in? I don't think i still have that!!

Was office pre-installed on the machine when you got it?

If so then it is likely that you only had a trial version and the trial has expired (have you used Excel or any of the other components?).

You can download free office solutions LibreOffice or OpenOffice, which will both load and save Word format files.

I purchased Word 2007 and the product key is on the inside of the box.

    Good luck

If you actually paid for Microsoft Office at the time you purchased your computer, the supplier should have either provided the discs in a package that has the key on it, or if it's like Dell's practice, they tend not to supply the discs but do enclose a plastic envelope with the key in it.

About that time XP was coming with Office 2007 trial which needs activating after 90? days.
  • Poster Molerat is correct from my memory as well.
You got a 'something day trial' or as I recall a number of starts of the components of office 2007 allowed.
After that you got the popup box asking you for a full licence number every time you tried to start one of the office components.

    Edit
I used it to prove to myself how much worse office 2007 was over 2003 as far as my productivity was concerned.
