Tax rebate

hello sorry if this is in the wrong place,
just require a bit of info as i cant find information on this anywhere else.
i subbmitted my 2012-2013 tax return on wednesday and by friday i could request a repayment of £2498 (i work in construction and am paid on the cis scheme so my tax is at source) today my account has changed and the repayment has gone but is now showing in my repayments section as pending, just wondering whether it means that they are sending the money or whether it is being refered to further checks (seen this mentioned for other people) iv requested the money as a bank transfer if its any more help

I did my husbands self assessment on saturday 6th at 5pm. Its for £1,200 mainly cis over payment. Ive logged in everyday since wednesday and everyday it has been saying bank repayment pending, I have been told it means its going through security checks and it should be changed from pending to issued around monday. Its all so confusing as last year we submitted one and it was done on the 13th april and in the bank on the 18th, but that was for paye/self employed and a small amout of cis.

BH! Everybody is getting keen!! Tax return in on the 6th April !!!!

For those that are employed in the construction industry and are self employed You must have been pretty quick doing your trading account and balance sheet.

Yes I know that you have until October to submit a 'paper' return and the end of January the following year to do it online.

Mine gets done after Christmas and logged at about 8pm on the 31st January!!

With Tax Credits when I claimed them, by telephoning on the final day!

I have more to do in my life than spend time rushing around trying to placate HMRC.

I just can't believe that someone has submitted their tax return on the first day of the new tax year. Mind you I never get a repayment, I always owe them for tax that has not been deducted off any of my income. Better in my bank than theirs.

Whether you submit the form on the 6th April or the 31st January, the payment date is the same, 31st January. Just because you submit the form on the first day available doen't mean you have to pay any earlier, in fact submitting it early allows you to save up for the 31st January if you have anything to pay.

I can guarantee you are one of the ones who waits till the last minute and then complains when the submission won't go through because the system is busyand demands extensions to deadlines and objects to penalties for late submissions .

Anyone who has the information to fill in the form months before the deadline, who then chooses to submit at the last minute is either a) Lazy, b) stupid or c) both.
[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

In my case, given the three options I would plum for lazy. Tax returns go on the back burner until after Christmas. I just don't see what the rush is for unless I suppose you need the repayment.

Yes I know that the 31st January is the last date of paying tax whatever date you submit the return. I just don't put tax returns as No 1 in my life.

Yes I am one of those that probably cloggs up the computer on the 31st Jan. But I have never had to pay a penalty. If the computer does get clogged up they always add a couple of weeks in February.

I suppose that I have the same attitude with all government enforced deadlines - I submit what I have to on the last day. In a way it makes me feel as though I am in control and not the government.
Having said that though I am always on the last minute with everything I do, I hate sitting in queues especially the GP. I generally arrive at 1 minute to the time of the appointment!

I made a claim for water damaged flooring in the lounge back in October 2012. Although I have taken photos and obtained two quotes, I have as yet to submit them. No doubt they will be on the phone telling me that they must be sent in by.....

Just to let you know i wasnt the only one submitting on this day i have read on here of people doing it when the website reopened at 6am on the 6th. It is much better to get things out the way, and when they owe you in excess if £1000 why should people let them sit on it and earn their selves even more interest?! Even if its less than a thousand pounds you are entitled to your money that they have taken!!

I'm doubtful that they're conducting some enhanced security checks, according to one other user on here, it'd say something like "Security Checks" rather than saying "Bank Repayment Pending", I'll post the link when I find it.

Can't seem to find it, but the user specifically mentioned that his repayment status went from, "processing" to "security checks", then got stuck on that for months, so he made a series of complaints etc. then finally went to "Bank Repayment Pending" and then "Issued" with a date.

So I guess that unless they have yet to update our repayment statuses to "Security Checks" we just have to wait a bit longer.
