Question re plastic walk in greenhouses
We have one of those plastic walk in greenhouses, a 6' x 4' one.
How do other members with these keep the sun off them when it gets too hot?
I didn't realise you were supposed to shade your greenhouse if it gets very hot and sunny.
I know you can buy some kind of paint to put on the outside of glass ones but what do you do with a plastic one?

I rigged up a shade net in my glass greenhouse, its threaded through a wire running along the apex and sits behind another wire running along the eaves. I can pull it across if its likely to be sunny but can move it back to let maximum light in on miserable days like this. I got it from Homebase and was quite quick to set up even for cack handed me. If you have somewhere to attach wires you could do something similar.
On my plastic patio growhouse I would put an old curtain over the top on really hot days to block out some light.0 -

I think I will have to go for the 'chuck a curtain over it' as I don't think there is anything I could attach the hooks of a curtain wire to.
I suppose I could put a piece of old curtain inside by just pushing it between the plastic and wedging it between that and the framework up the side and to the top of it.0 -
Old net curtains can be good as shade - I dyed some pale green and rigged them up inside the green house so they didn't blow off - but it is probably better to find some secure way of draping them over the greenhouse roof outside, as then the roof does not heat up so much from the sun. Worked a treat for me!
NB I don't think you have to dye them green, it just looked better than what were obviously old and yellowed net curtains....

That sounds like a good idea to dye them green plus I suppose it will keep a bit more light out if they are darker.
Best I buy some Dylon then next time I go to Wilkinsons.

This is exactly what I did using a net curtain. I secured it in a few places using small pieces of wire tied to the frame - this stopped it flopping from the top bar

I did think of that but I don't have a frame piece that goes from the front to the back of the greenhouse, I could hang one just on one side of it but it wouldn't cover the roof.0
