Can I completely remove a laptop screen?

If so how? If I could remove it then I could get another computer screen and use it like that. The non working screen gets in the way!!

If you get a new replacment screen you just replace the internal workings, you will see a few pads round the screen either rubber pads or covers behind them are screws remove them and the plastic facia will come away, maybe with a little persuesion from a flat screwdriver anyway. once inside there will be a metal frame with about 1000 screws holding it to the lid remove them all and the screen will come away, you then need to seperate the backlight from the LCD panel and youreplace whihc ever bit isnt working. there will be a few cables for you to disconnect and reconnect.

If you plan using a normal monitor then either buy a docking station or just fold the screen back, without the screen on it may not work.

Just plug in an external keyboard and mouse, and use it with the lid closed.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

    I'll do a price check.
How about the alternative routes? ie Credit card cover etc

If all else fails and you really can't afford to replace the screen, don't discount writing a letter to the Country Manager of Acer UK, Semmy Levit, to appeal to his better nature. :)
Alternatively, you could try the MD of Acer UK, Gianpiero Morbello.

    Strangely, there are two addresses;

    Acer UK Ltd
    Poyle Road, Colnbrook,
    Slough, Berkshire,
    SL3 0QX
    England
    Tel: 44-1-753-699-200
    Fax: 44-1-753-699-201

    and/or

    Acer UK Ltd.
    Acer House
    Heathrow Boulevard III
    282 Bath Road
    West Drayton, Middlesex
    UB7 0DQ, England
    Tel: +44-208-283-3000
    Fax: +44-208-283-3001

    Good luck.

I'll get back to you with an approximate cost if I can.
