we are due to move in to ahose next month and will only use gas for our cooker hob. at the moment there is no gas to the property and will cost around £639 + VAT to install. we do at present live in turkey and use a gas bottle for our cooking needs so the question is this . Are we better sticking to a gas bottle 47kg for £67.50 or getting gas connected. we could have 11 bottles!. also how much is gas per unit and on average how much would we use for just cooking on the hob. We dont use the gas much here in Turkey as its warmer but we know that a 47kg bottle would last us here 3years. many thanks for your reply's, hope someone out there just cooks with a gas hob and has some figures for us..

Welcome to the forum, and also to the UK and it's climate

The bottled gas market in the UK has one BIG problem - It's expensve compared to mains gas - ( See the blog on this site, which is alongside the Gas & Elec you have visited to enter your post )

The difference in temperature between here and Turkey will have very little difference on how much gas it will take to boil a pan of water.

In fact any difference in altitude may result in a greater difference ;)

So if not gas, what type of heating does the house have?
