Looking at purchasing a new kitchen and coming across so many optional extras that I did not even think of. Would love to hear your opinion on things that you purchased that were useful and worth the money and things that have not been so useful. Things to start the ball rolling that have been mentioned are;
Warming drawers
Magic Corners
Pull out larder
Boiling water tap
5 hob burner
2 single ovens over range cooker
Are deep pan drawers better than cupboards
All advice much appreciated.

All lovely things to have, I'm sure, but not really old style, are they?0 -
Sure old stylers change kitchens and have opinions on this. If you think its better posted on a different board please let me know which one. ThanksJan Grocery challenge

I don't have many of those things now, but when I have a new kitchen it will have to include magic corners and a boiling water tap. I hate my pull out larder with a passion (massive waste of space), don't want low level ovens and have found that you can't actually get 5 pans on a 5 burner hob anyway.chocolatepennyfarthing wrote: »Looking at purchasing a new kitchen and coming across so many optional extras that I did not even think of. I love my pan drawers though.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
That list is very subjective, and I don't know what your circumstances are or how many people you might be cooking for on a regular basis.
None of things you mentioned would be that useful to me, not even for occasional use. Plus I have absolutely no idea what a Magic Corner might be.
What I'd be wanting is a proper walk-in pantry.0 -

Ooh, I'd love a pantry.
A magic corner is for those double base units where one half isn't easily accessible. Basically the shelves move when you open the door so that you can access things more easily.

The only thing that would come in handy for me is the boiling water tap.
I much prefer a older style kitchen with less fancy gadgets, we have just recently moved home and downsized from a huge kitchen to a very small kitchen but I wasnt at all bothered cos my new kitchen has a massive walk in pantry which will be more useful for me
I do have deep pan drawers and they are good, when we get round to refitting the kitchen I'll be having pan drawers again.0 -
My mum and mother in law both have magic corner cupboards - with a carousel and they're great. I'll definitely have one in my next kitchen!0

My sister has a pull out larder which is constantly coming open now - they are going to change it into a normal cupboard.
As for the rest of it, I suppose it depends on how much of a chef you are! Some of these things sound more like want than need but I am not you! It must be great being able to choose your own kitchen though...assuming it's for another 10-20 years or more then think about which of these things you will still be using then and which (if any) might be a waste of space/novelty.0 -
I'd love a walk in pantry too! Interesting to note that others aren't particularly pleased with pull out larders - this was defo on my wish list - may need to rethink. Also really want a large (6 burner) range.0

I love the idea of six burners but I rarely use more than two at a time. I don't remember the last time I used four burners. I'd be scared of all that heat!
My must have if I could have would be a separate grill and oven or an oven that had more than two temperatures ie hot and cold.
