light projecting onto felt in newly refitted roof

Hi all

I am new so bear with me please if I miss anything out.

I have just had my roof refitted. All the tiles off and put back on with new laths & felt.

I was just up in my loft and turned off the light so it was pitch black, and I could see lots and lots of light projecting onto the felt from all over the place between the tiles.

Is this normal so that the roof can breathe or something like that, or is this something worse.

I tried to take photos but none have come out. I will attempt more later with a different camera maybe and edit the post.

thanks all for any advice.

  • No need to worry =you`ve got breathable felt , that`s why you can see the back projection of the light - any roof without felt will show daylight through the cracks - Old fashioned slaters felt was like a blackout curtain therefore you wouldn`t see a damned thing in the roof - and then we used to have Tilley lamps to see to install the cold water storage cisterns - the good old days:D Rest easy M8
