Ipa

I have just recieved a letter following my OR interview on the 27th March. After the assesment of my income it had been determined that there are surplus funds of £84 per month. I am a little shocked he came to this figure in all honesty.

The SOA I submitted didn't show an surplus income at all so he has obviously deemed some of the figures too high and not essential for living. Am I allowed to ask to see what he has tweaked to get to the figure of £84?

If I do disagree and write in detail and he still maintains I need to pay £84 a month if I get a pay rise or new job after discharge do I still need to declare it and will my ipa rise in accordance with my pay rise?

I suppose this is one of the dips of my roller coaster journey.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can ask to see a breakdown.

If you disagree with their calculations then you are not obliged to agree to any IPA. In fact, agreeing to something that is not affordable or represents an unfair figure would be lining up trouble for yourself. Especially as, as you suspect, if disposable income went up they could ask you to pay even more.

Demand a breakdown. Some examiners can be a tad grumpy about that, but you are the one to stump up the cash, so you demand to see the figures before you will even consider signing.

  • Thank you fermi, I shall ask to see them then will write a detailed letter. The majority of my income is income related benefits and I assumed that if the government thought I needed these benefits to live at a certain standard of living then I probably wouldn't get an IPA. The cab advisor didn't think I would either. I don't want to shirk my responsibilities either before anyone may think that I just want a fresh start and a break in life!

    and..so you are entitled!

Far from shirking your responsibilities, you have in fact entirely lived up to them by petitioning BR........so that your creditors can be repaid with equanimity.

    Hi,

    I echo Fermi s words.

If you think that in any way this payment would prevent you from funding your reasonable (not basic) needs then you should not sign it.

  • Sorry me again, worked myself into a bit of a state over this IPA letter I got on Saturday.

One of the things that is puzzling me is my 4 weekly benefits (child benefit, WTC,CTC,and housing benefit) as they are paid 13 times in a year as oppossed to 12 times I multiplied them by 13 divided by 12 for my Soa. Which was then added to my monthly wage and my monthly maintaince I recieve from my ex husband towards the upkeep of my children. But I dont pyhsically have that amount of money each month as it is the end of the year when i get two payments one month (right at the beginning and right at the end)

The other thing that is niggling me is My non benefit income is £923 salary and £311 maintaince (soon to decrease as he is having his 2nd child with his wife) is paid each calander month is it this alone that they have to find the £84 a month surplus they think I have?

the chappy who has had my case passed onto him isnt in until 10.30 so will call him and ask for the figures his collegue used. Would be allowed to put the figures up on here so you can see what they think?

Sorry to rattle but back to panic mode and feelind low and desperate again and after the highs i have been on really not doing a great deal for my state of mind. I shall be bl**dy grey by the time I get through this!!

Thanks in advance for any advice

Yes put the figures up as someone here will look at them.

Keep your chin up. Yes it sent me grey way to early but the bottle of dye each 8 weeks takes care of that:rotfl:

Make sure you write down your questions so you do not forget to ask anything, and have a pen to write down his replies.

Once you have the details get them on here and I am positive someone can help you sort this out.

Have you got the figures yet?

As has been said do not agree to anything, they may have made an error or you may be able to contest what they are saying.

  • The man who has taken over my case has not needs to speak to the man who has handed over my case to him and that man is not in today. So the chances are I wont hear anything until tomorrow now.

  • Had an e-mail through from OR office, I am sat at my desk in work so cant look at it in great detail but two things that stand out. They have a big fat Y in the box that asks if I have a partner contributing at least 50% of the out goings although they have put the amounts in the expenses that i am paying 100%.

They have cut my groceries to £383 a month from £450 (which i was starting to think was too low)and knocked my sky on the head. Sky I can handle fair enough I am not too fussed over that but I am amazed that they think I can feed myself a teenager and a 8yr old on £383 a month never mind cleaning materials, washing powder etc etc. I know it is possiable but not easy for month in month out for 3 years and with the cost of food rising , my child mainatinace dropping in September, my HB dropped in April too it does not give me any scope to cut back incase I have got an issue with my car or a school trip etc.

AND before all the super scrimpers start with please dont advise me on how to save money with the greatest respect I have scrimped and scraped for years I need advice on my IPA not money saving.
