    Could a year long sabbatical be an option? Not sure how your entitlement to any benefits would stand there though. It could leave the door open to returning to work in some shape or form in the future once you have had a year of FT caring if you did wish to do so.
  • I agree you have to do what is best for you and your family :)

    Get as much advice as possible as the benefits system is confusing but my daughter left work due to stress and to be able to better care for her son who is Autistic , so she got a lower rate payment for a while but is now on full ESA

    I was getting carers allowance for my Grandson which I am now passing back to her but am still there to support her and babysit etc

    It is hard work and getting all the support you need is a constant battle but worth it because it is for your dear ones and the health and general well being of your family as a whole! xx
