All-Inclusive Holiday for 5 in August on £2500?

Hi all,

Looking to get away for a week end July/first few weeks August. Looking at somewhere European with a nice beach and a few things for the 3 kids (16/9/6) to do. Don't mean to sound snobby but looking to avouid anywhere 'tacky'. No interest in watching others drink all day and all night.

Is this agenda feasible for £2500? If so any ideas about where/what standard of accommodation we could get?

Cheers

it might be feasible if you book it all separately. go to skyscanner and see where you can go, and how much it will cost, for flights from any airports in the UK you can depart from.

Then have a look on the likes of expedia/travelrepublic for resort accommodation from your arrival airport of choice. See what kind of prices you can get for the hotels by booking outside of a package.

You can google for transfers from the airport too.

There are only 2 of us, but I'm looking at a holiday to Crete later in the year, and by booking it seperately compared to a package, I get the hotel I really want, and save around £150 total for the week, everything included.

You could also have a look at holiday hypermarket to get an idea of what a package would cost you.

We just booked a weeks holiday in Italy, departing in May, I eventually booked through Thomsons because trying to do the flight, the hotel. transfers and the food seperately just doesn't get anywhere near the Thomsons price, It looks like we probably saved about £150 each.

Looking at your dates , age of eldest child and holiday has to be Ai and not tacky , I think you are at least £1000 short.

It can be done no problem but you will be eating and drinking slop all day, going stir crazy in a cheap hotel.
Better to get apartment and sc
Most places you can get a 2 course meal, often with a drink for £5 or £6.
A coolbag with drinks from supermarket + day on beach with picnik etc

Just had a quick look on First Choice and for a week at the end July to mainland Spain from Manchester you are looking at £3,000, think you will need to up your budget.

Does it have to be AI? Do it DIY and it should be easy, we usually spend about £3-3.5k for a 2-3 week holiday in August for 4 of us - that includes everything inc eating out most nights. So just one week for 5 somewhere "non tacky" should be easy for about £2.5k. Also if you could go late August instead it will be a lot cheaper.

A lot depends of what price flights you can get, also consider driving if going somewhere like France.

Corfu 13th August to 21st August
225.47 return flights with easyjet flying out, ryanair coming back totals 1127.35

2 Christakis apartments totals 530 which is near all the nightlife so would be 1657 for the 5 of you.

If you do want all inclusive the cheapest hotel is Magna grecia hotel in dassia bay which comes to 1249 for the 5 of you for the hotel so would total 2376.35 and you can get cheap transfers on a ryanair link so would just about be on budget

Best bet is to book your flights separately. Easyjet and Ryanair are not always cheapest - our flights to Tenerife in July were better value with BA. look on owner's direct for a villa or large apartment. IMO Brits abroad behaviour is more likely to be found in AI rather than DIYalthought there are always exceptions.

I would also suggest you ask your children what they want from the holiday. For August you also need to consider the heat in certain areas which can be unbearable for little ones.
  • Unfortunately cheap places are generally the tacky places. Your 16 year old might as well be an adult for the purposes of booking, he/she is for any flight, and is for most hotels. As above, you're probably a fair amount short.

As always, does depend where you can fly from, for example, if you can fly from stansted you're far more likely to make that target than say, Southampton.
