Hi I've been away for a month, so just tried 'Outlook' email & it doesn't appear to be working. Just get 'server not found'? Is anyone else having problems? Or just me?

Thx

How are you accessing the email?

Are you trying to log in to the Outlook.com website?

Or are you using software which downloads emails to your PC? (Such as ...er...Outlook - I wish Microsoft hadn't used the same name for their web service and their email client software. ) If so, which software are you using?

Techies please be gentle with me, I'm a complete luddite and female to boot.

My laptop has Vista, and I have a hotmail.com email account that has been moved to Outlook. I have been mailing a friend in Spain for the last week and she has not received any of my mails. She has mailed me using an old message that originated before the Outlook change. In desperation, I have finally managed to contact her using my lycos email account.

I access Outlook via a favourites link, and always use IE, but have just now used Firefox to see if that makes a difference. Emails to others are being received.

The changeover to Outlook from hotmail was done in Spain at an internet cafe, as I did not have my laptop with me in Spain.

Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

I find the new outlook.com has disgraceful performance in chrome browser, I think ms are taking the michael with it to only work well with the latest version of internet explorer...
my advice would be to update the browser or use a client to access the mail (like desktop outlook or thunderbird etc)

Hi well I find outlook works well with both FF & Chrome, even faster with Chrome, I had always used FF until recently........my initial problem with the original ? to this thread was solved by finding a different link with 'Google' for outlook.com for logging in.
