Had plenty of French cars over the years. Current other halts Clio Dci has just past the 100k and apart from a squeaky anti roll bar drop link is wearing well enough.

Still worth a decent amount of dosh considering we paid just under £6k for it back in late '09 with under 30k on it.

They have there foibles but are safe.

Recently upgraded the interior, beige originally!

To a 2012 half leather interior off eBay.

I discovered that they have an under thigh airbag to stop submarining instead of the seat belt pretensioners on earlier cars.

Apart from a bit of surface rust on the subframe it is rust free underneath.

I don't like the electric power steering if I'm honest but it is light.

Going to keep it another 2 years at least.

Though certain French cars can be troublesome.

But then so can the Passat and Golf.

They just have the middle class motoring press on side to help preserve the image.

    All cars have faults.

That is just how it is.

If you want good value buy three year old just off lease with above average motorway miles.

Try not to go for anything much over 100k and it must have full main dealer history.

Has worked for minicab drivers this way for years.

Depreciation is the biggest cost of car ownership these days.

If you are on the right side of the equation you will have cheap motoring in a newish car.

My V50 cost £22k new, I got it for under £5k with 100k and just off lease, full history from Volvo. Will have had it two years in July.

    Probably still worth £5k today.

    25) Never buy a Rover, they all have head gasket issues. Because the Internet / Jeremy Clarkson says so.
