I am ringing the vets when they open but just wanted some reassurance really. We got our kitten Gizmo neutered on Thursday, when he came home the right side looked bloody but thought it was probably nothing to worry about. Last night i noticed that it looks like it has opened and some tissue is popping out. He hasn't been running around l, jumping or play figting with our other cat. He's spent most if his tme snuggled up beside us, under the bed or in the cat carrier playing with his nubby ball. I just wanted to know really if anyone else has had something similar happen.

I don't know if you mean 'tissue' as in skin / flesh or surgical tissue? It should be a relatively clean cut with clean stitches. I would take him back to the vet ASAP. X

I've spoke to the vet and i have to take him down at 11:30. They think it sounds like the area has come open and fatty tissue is protruding. They said they'll probably just stick it back together. Poor Gizmo, he doesn't seem to be in pain and is eating normally so i guess its not affecting him too much. I'm just worried in case he has an infection or gets one.

He'll be ok :) My mum did ripped open her calf once and all this yellow yuck started bulging out! It looked horrific. The Dr literally pushed it back in and two stitches later, sorted. It looks worse than it is and he'll be ok :) Just keep an eye on him for a few days and if the area becomes inflammed, hes itching it, or anything looks a bit odd, go back and check. Never worth leaving it a bit too long! :)

    How is kitty?
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Does happen, but not very often. (I've had it only a very few times in 20 years of getting cats done) .You've done right by contacting your vet, but should be nothing to worry about.
DONT BREED OR BUY WHILE HOMELESS ANIMALS DIE. GET YOUR ANIMALS NEUTERED TO SAVE LIVES.

Apparently it's caused by an adverse reaction and is inflamed. The vet said it happens sometimes and that it will go down. He gave him an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injection and said he'd see him.on Monday. Personally i think it looks like the surgical glue has come away and something is protruding butI'm not a vet so what do i know. I will keep an eye in him and if i think he needs to i will take him for a second opinion. Thanks for the kind words and for asking how he is. Spent most of the day laid on the floor with him having snuggles :)

Morning, had to take my baby boy back to the vets this morning for another operation.

Basically for some reason the right hand vas deferens instead of 'shrinking back in' to the abdomen area has protruded out.

The vet he saw on Saturday gave him an antibiotic/anti-inflamatory injection hoping it would shrink and go back. This wasn't the case and when he went back again on Monday the other vet that saw him thought he was doing well and that skin would grow over it in a week to two weeks and just gave him another injection. However, when he went back yesterday she realised that what she thought was a scab forming was actually the vas deferens drying up but it is now protruding further out (around 1cm, before that it was just a little bump protruding a couple of mm at the most) so gave him another injection and booked him in for an operation to fix it today.

I had to take him to a different surgery in another town, the vet had offered to keep him over night and take him there herself but he's so stressed by the whole experience I wanted to keep him at home last night.

The nurse I saw this morning said it is a rare occurence and that the operation to rectify it is simple but if left untreated it could become really serious. I just hope he's ok and isn't too stressed out.

I feel awful for leaving him again, he must think I don't love him :(. Just waiting for 12 to come so I can go home and start boiling him some chicken up for when he comes home.

Ow he doesn't think that. I'm sure he'd appreciate the chicken to be ready boiled for when he gets home so you can have lots of cuddles when he gets home!

He's home and he's fine. Stitched up this time so hopefully he'll heal better. He seems so such bouncier than he has been, he's just been paddling in the water bowl. He's currently laid on our bed soaking wet but looking rather pleased with himself. He's backbat the vets tomorrow for a check and then that should be it. Thanks for your kind words again, it really did help :)
