Which are best resorts in Tenerife?

My friend has recommended a hotel in Costa Adeje - Riu Adeje - the hotel looks fab and has great reviews but I know nothing about the resort?

  • my family went there last year and said it was really nice, depends what you want. I have stayed in Las Americas and Los Cristianos. Cristianos is alot nicer place but americas is were it all happens...a short beach stoll between the two though.

I used to live in Tenerife.

The nicest part of the Island is the north but not very sunny most of the time (Puerto de la Cruz is lovely).

If you want to feel in England go to Las Americas, if you want a touristic place but with a Canary feeling Los Cristianos is much nicer.

Adeje is pretty nice, if you get a good deal for Riu Adeje go for it!!

    Have a fantastic time!

Stay clear of Las Americas unless you love cockroaches, drunks, drugs, kiss me quick hats or Blackpool - which actually goes hand in hand with the aforementioned but never mind! I have been to Las Americas and would never go back again - ever! The Canaries in general are lovely though and I've heard good things about the north of Tenerife.
  • I definitely want to avoid Blackpool type Brits abroad places.

We have two boys aged 12 and 10 so somewhere not too quiet but plenty of bars, restaurants with more of an upmarket feel but child friendly

Does this sound like Costa Adeje. We've worked out we can get flights using Tesco clubcard deals (I can't believe they are over £200 each with most operators).

We can get an apartment at Riu Adeje for 650 Euros - don't know what the food is like there.

I've just looked on Owners Direct and all apartments seem very reasonable.

There is a fab expert (an ex-pat who now lives over there) on www.tripadvisor.com - they have really helped me out.

As long as you avoid the Veronicas area of Las Americas you'll have a great time.

I have timeshare in Las Americas. Just near veronicas. In a complex called palm beach. And i love the area.

Veronicas is a small and i mean small strip of bars, it used to be rough here, but it is soon to be closed.

Las americas isn't full of kiss me quick hats.

It has some lovely restaurants and some great bars with loads of entertainment on.

Las americas is what you want it to be. But it is a busy resort and full of people. I wonder why. Must be the donkey rides and amusement arcades.

coast adeje is a lovely part of las americas. It has lovely beaches and nice new hotels. if you need anymore help go over to tripadvisor and see what people have to say.

I've got to say I thought Las Americas was a nothing like I was dreading before I went.. We had a fantastic holiday there and found it very family friendly resort. Went last August and although we wasn't out after midnight I thought it was great with plenty of very good restaurants. We stay in the Santiago area and the only annoyance we had was being continually pestered to buy fake watches but I think you get that all over the Canaries... Would I go back? Absolbloodylutly...:D
