Lie on application form re: qualification

Do not play dumb.
Mentioned you passed A B and C of the secretarial diploma.
When asked for a copy, say you do not currently have one due to the timescale and you can obtain a copy if required.
If you do have to obtain a copy, Then produce the 3 passes you do have but hopefully they don't ask for a copy.Bad luck breeds bad luck.
Damn I'm doomed.0 -
The OP has this:
" I am now hugely worried as I obviously don't have a certificate for this, just a piece of paper with the 3 passes and a 'referred' part for the fourth part. I never got to re-take the exam due to moving from the area."
I think the OP's main concern is that the interviewers think that she lied about her qualifications.
I think that some companies - e.g. local government and say the health board would maybe not even shortlist if you don't have the 'essential' criteria. Other companies might not be as bothered.
I can understand the OP's worries - but best thing is to go for the interview, get the experience - hopefully they won't mention it if you give them your sheet of paper. If you're offered the job and they have a copy of your qualifications then you know it worked out.
If you don't - make sure next time you add the part about passing 3 parts of the diploma.
Meantime try to relax and just concentrate on getting ready for the interview.
Good luck.0 -
Thanks for everyone's replies.
I certainly won't lie in the interview or play dumb and say that I thought I had passed because I know that I didn't and it has never stopped me getting a job.
The difference with this job is that the previous jobs were applied for via CV and therefore I got away with what I wrote for that qualification (just writing three passes for each part of course) but this time I have written pass for the qualification as a whole when its not the truth. The only way of explaining this is at interview and I am hoping that I can explain and they accept this as me being honest and not trying to dupe them. I am going to try and talk with confidence and not stumble, stutter way through explanation.
However, I will just pass over my certificates when requested and discuss it if they bring it up otherwise I will keep schtum.0 -

Unfortunately I didn't get the job. I did a fantastic interview (according to them) and so had amazing feedback. I was pipped to the post by someone with more experience in the required department (I had none relevant to that post).
Anyway, regarding my original post, luckily the qualification was not mentioned and nothing was looked at but I have just applied for another post and have taken that whole qualification off the new application as it had me anxious all week.0 -

I once 'lied' at an interview. Well I didn't lie just didn't mention the truth.
I got offered the job, handed in my 4 weeks notice. 4 weeks later, turned up at 9am to the new job, they received my reference and found out I lied/was dishonest.
I cried my eyes out.

I would advise not putting Diploma -pass in future. Even with the qualification that it was only 3 of 4 modules. The fact is you didn't pass the diploma. You could however mention you undertook modular study and passed 3 modules.
Whether or not you did this naively or with the intention of deceiving, it could easily end with you losing a job. It's better to play on the positive I.e. "3 modules of secretarial study passed" than get the sack for trying to exaggerate by implying you achieved the diploma.0 -

Yeah I agree and have totally learned my lesson. I am not a dishonest person and would never try to blag my way through an interview with false info - I would always be afraid it would come back to haunt me.0
