Virgin Atlantic Black Card?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if there were any preset requirements for the Virgin Atlantic Black card as I am thinking of applying for it (as I travel Virgin a lot) but I am unsure of whether I should go for White or Black. I earn in the region of £25k, I have a Gold Barclaycard (which I got recently) and I have an arranged overdraft I am currently in by £500 (until pay day), I believe my credit rating is average/better than average.
Also is there a best time to apply for cards? like when the bank account is in a positive balance and at 11am on a Tuesday for example? I know it sounds silly but you never know unless you ask
Thank you

Black earns better but there is a fee, there will be discuions on here and other forums such as flyer talk about the relative merits and levels of spend and earning are better. I've got the white card, just use the Amex and have cut up the visa as the Amex earns better, but after flying several times with the, last year I haven't travelled for a few months.0

Wait for a good bonus miles sign up. We got 320k miles last year with sign up bonuses x2 and using it for everything. 4 upper class returns to new York for £2k in total plus 320k miles. Tesco have bonus sign ups to link cards, virgin wines give extra miles etc etc the visa is best as you can pay lots of bills on visa that don't take Amex.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving
July challenge £50 a day. £ 1682.50/1550
October challenge £100 a day. £385/£31000 -
The fee doesn't bother me in all honesty as it is more than negated by the amount of travelling I will be doing over the next couple of years and as for waiting for a good time for signing up, I am planning a trip where I am flying on Virgin Atlantic so would like to have the card before I book the flights in a couple of weeks as I can get the extra points for the purchase but I am more concerned as to whether or not the fact I am in my overdraft currently will have an affect on whether I will be declined or not as well as the fact I am average/slightly above average on my rating but if it doesn't matter then I shall apply tomorrow and hope for the best

Do you get a response within 60 seconds like other companies (Barclaycard I know did) give?0 -
I was just declined, my impatience got the better of me
if I wait a few days, do you think I'd be fine applying again but for the White card or just I just leave it? 0 -

I think you'll have to leave it for 6 months else you'll get a straight decline regardless of your situation.. That's normally the rule for applying for cards from the same provider whether you get accepted or not. Check the small print on the application to be sure0 -

Check your Experian/Equifax files first to see if there is anything negative on there - you didn't meet their criteria for the Black card but there might be something on the reports that results in you being declined for the White.0 -
Really? okay well I think I'll leave it then, I have the money on my Barclaycard for the flights and things, I was just hoping for the extra miles you knowI think you'll have to leave it for 6 months else you'll get a straight decline regardless of your situation.. I use Noddle and there doesn't appear to be much of an issue although recently a SO got rejected (no idea why as the money was in my account) and I did go over my overdraft briefly (2 days) so perhaps that is the issue?Check your Experian/Equifax files first to see if there is anything negative on there - you didn't meet their criteria for the Black card but there might be something on the reports that results in you being declined for the White.
I think I'll wait 6 months then try again, perhaps then there will be a better deal on points
Cheers guys

Ok. It's an MBNA card and they have quite low acceptance thresholds and so you need to try and find out why.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

It's an MBNA card? ah I got rejected a while back for a card from them due to my rating being well crap, it has only recently come up to average/slightly above average as I have only been using credit cards for 1 and a half years, I also fairly recently got a Barclaycard so perhaps it is because I got the Barclaycard recently (couple of months ago) that they didn't want to risk it?pleasedelete wrote: »Ok.
