HELP re Student Finance for uni loans

Hello can you help please anybody?

My niece has applied to Student Finance for uni, (starting this September,) and 2 months ago, she filled everything in online (as many people have,) and they emailed within a day to say they are processing her application. A few days after she applied, they emailed her again to say she now needs to send in the 'declaration form' to clarify the family income etc.

A month later, she still hadn't heard anything from them. She told her boyfriend this, (he is a year older and is at a uni on London,) and he told her not to worry as it takes a while... sometimes over a month for the declaration form to come.

However, she spoke to 3 pals today (who go to the college she goes to,) who applied one or two weeks after her, and their 'declaration forms' came 2 or 3 weeks ago! (So theirs took about a month after applying.)

So now she is panicking, and there appears to be no email address for them. And as for the number they provide for enquiries; she has tried it three times today, since 4pm, and waited 20 to 30 minutes each time! And it's an 0845 number! The third time, she held for half an hour and it cut her off!

Can anyone advise? Does this sound normal, and if she can't get through by phone, does anyone know anywhere she could send an email to? (The one they sent their email from to her, says 'do not reply to this email as it is programmed to not receive emails.) Or should she write to them?

Has anyone experienced the same issues/problems?

Thank you.

There is no email address for student finance. I applied in Feb and I'm still waiting for mine to be processed. I would leave it a bit longer before wasting your time on the phone.

If the declaration is lost in the post, they post a second reminder one anyways... The declaration doesn't affect the processing of the application, as long as it is returned before money is due in September.

Thanks Amie. :) Have you not even had your declaration form then?

No I haven't. In previous years, I have received that with the letter telling you how much you're going to get.

Thanks for the reassurance: my niece is just worried, because all her pals have got their forms. I wonder why some get them quickly and other don't?

Logic and student finance don't belong together :)
