Hi All
Trying to find out if my tax entitlement is correct going on the 5 minute check site, it asks about children, but not if they live with you. i have 2 children who live with their mother, i pay regular maintenance but not sure if i am entitled to any benefit, does anybody know the answer?
Many thanks

Put your details into "entitledto.co.uk" and that should give you a good idea. If the children don't live with (even if they stay overnight with you several nights a week), you won't be entitled to any benefits because of the children.
If you have any sort of disability, you may be entitled to benefits or if you are on a low income (and it does have to be quite low if you're single) then you may get working tax credit.
As for tax, you will get no additional allowances for having children whether they live with you or not - the married couples allowance was abolished years ago in favour of the child tax credit which is only paid to the parent with care.
Hope that helps.0 -
Your tax entitlement will be based on that of a single person, there is no benefit due for the fact that you pay maintenance - the tax relief was scrapped for that.0
