Arrest - does it show up on crb?

Hi all,
I am asking this for a colleague...

She was arrested for saying something silly in anger.... She was later interviewed and released after the police were convinced it's a genuine mistake. She was told that her details will however be held on police records...

She is a self employed contractor working in the banking sector. Does this arrest appear on the CRB or on enhanced CRB?

Does she have to declare it when applying for jobs?

If it was only an arrest (ie she wasn't charged and convicted or receive a caution for an offence) then no, it won't show on a CRB (now known as DBS) and if an employer asks about convictions and cautions then no she doesn't have to declare it.

Arrests (even those that don't result in any further action) will show up on a PNC print out.

Shouldn't appear on either, but a lot of people receive a caution and don't realise it will appear on their CRB (DBS).

Why don't you call your local police station and ask? Expplain your situation and ask them to confirm if it will show or not.

I am not sure if they will give me info about her case....will ask her to call and find out...

It won't show on an enhanced CRB or any other kind of CRB.

Hmmm... an arrest WILL appear on an enhanced CRB.

I'm sorry, but if your arrested it usually does show up on a CRB. If the policeman has cautioned the OP and let her go, then she has received a caution, which will also show on her CRB.

I'm actually a countersignatory for CRB applications and this is what I am led to believe.

Back in the dim and distant mists of time I was arrested but not cautioned or charged. My enhanced CRB is clear, the arrest is not on it.

Elsien, I'm pretty sure it only apply's to enhanced crb checks.

I've seen several CRBs recently which have listed 'arrest' and what for. They just don't put anything in the 'disposal' area.

May be as I work with vulnerable people, as the police can choose what appears on a CRB dependant on the role they are applying / working for / in.
