There will probably be plenty of fees charged by every official department involved. There usually is.
Fingers in pies........they all want a cut!
You want the bins collected & fire brigade available? Seems only fair you should contribute to the 'pie' that gives you these services.
You want the property registered in your name so you can sell in due course? Seems only fair you should contribute to the 'pie' that maintains a database of property registers.

Update for anyone who may be interested now or in the future.
Thank you for all the help here. Most useful.
To transfer the leasehold property into my name I only need to complete Land Registry forms AP1 & AS1, send to Land Registry Office with Probate & payment of their fee.
They will change over ownership of the flat and send me a copy of new entry in the land register showing me as the new owner.
No need to use legal advisor. All DIY.0 -
If the flat is leasehold the freeholder needs to give consent for any transfer to occur, a long lease is essentially a contract between the freeholder and the leaseholder it's not an own outright situation so you cannot simply reassign that.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
