Santander 123 Credit Card- some petrol stations classed as supermarkets?

Hi All,

I recently received my Santander 123 Credit Card. I was excited about the 3% cashback.

I was looking through the booklet that came with it and noticed something:

"some petrol stations may be classed as supermarkets"

Am I to assume that all supermarket petrol stations are classed as supermarkets (rather then petrol stations) by Santander and thus I would only receive 1% cashback rather then 3%?

I know I could use a non-supermarket petrol station instead but they tend to be more expensive (offsetting any gain made by the cashback).

Any help/ advice would be appreciated.

No you're not to assume that at all. You should assume that "some" "may" be classed as supermarkets...just as they say in the text you quoted.

Have you seen their classification section here?...

    http://www.santander-products.co.uk/credit_cards/cashback_search/home/search.html

For example, my nearest Tesco has two separate entries:

    1. Supermarket - Tesco

    2. Petrol - Tesco Petrol

So I would get 1% on my groceries, and 3% at the attached petrol station.

Thanks YorkshireBoy for pointing me in the right direction. I wasn't aware there was a classification section and it was pretty much what I needed to look at.
