When we turned on the computer tonight, instead of our usual screensaver a blue screen came up with the following message:
Fatal error in IE has occured at 0028:C0011E36 in VXD VMM< 00010E36
Error was caused by Trojan-Spy.HTML.Smitfraud.c
We ran Norton Anti Virus but that didn't come up with anything and I have tried looking up the name of the Trojan but there is no mention of it anywhere and I don't know what to do.
Please can someone help me before I burst into tears and tear my hair out. I dread to think what damage this thing is doing!
I'd be grateful for instructions in plain English as I don't understand all the jargon (sorry).
Thanks.

Kelly Ive found a bit about this Trojan here
http://www.viruslist.com/en/viruses/encyclopedia?virusid=73615
Be very careful as this can steal keystrokes so watch if you have done Internet banking or anything password sensitive.
I thought Id write quickly to you as I don't want you goin onto your Bank etc.
I'll look for a fix for you, I'll reply within 10mins if I can find one.

Mr Skint that seems to be the way to fix it, however for a novice to go through the registry etc it may be a little daunting. Kelly if you are able to enough to go through the instructions on the website Mr Skint found then that should work, however if you are not I'd download a trojan killer, one I have used in the past is found here

Just downlaod it and try running it and see if it works, its a shareware so you can use it for free for 30 days.
Let us know how you get on.These are the Good 'ol Days just wait and see!0 -
Virus Guards are not that good at detecting trojan horses and it is recommended to install separate anti-trojan software.
Two good ones are BOClean (£22) and TrojanHunter (£26)

Yep Mr Skints option looks like the answer I agree, and it does tell you to back up the registry so if you make a mistake you still have the good copy, found the same sort of answer on another forum,
looks like a brand new one so making sure your anti virus is up to date may be an option, AVG had 2 updates yesterday and another this morning !!Ex forum ambassador
