Eon WarmAssist discount, discount?

I have just had a letter from eon that my prices are being increased from 3rd June.

I have been told, not accurate figures to disguise who I am, that last year my costs, including discount, was £1200, and from 3rd June my cost using the new tariff will be £1450, an increase of £250.

To get to the £1200 cost I work this out using the old tariff, add VAT and discount that total by my discount which gives £1200.

The new tariff, when worked out as 365 time daily rate plus tariff times kWh usage gives £1450 which Eon say will be my new yearly cost.

So is there now no WarmAssist tariff discount or is this allowed for in the actual tariff, i.e. the tariff is already discounted by the WarmAssist discount?

There is also no mention of a DD discount.
Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

    Hi NowRetired,

I did miss it sorry :o

The Warm Assist discounts remain the same at 15%, there isn't a separate Direct Debit discount.

It's the unit prices that are changing, so instead of having a primary and secondary rate, there will now be a daily standing charge and a rate for all energy used.

    Hope this helps.

    Helena :)

On the letter I got it said Standing charge for gas and electricity is £73.47 each and unit charge for electricity is £0.10238 and gas £0.03167 so 5000 kWh of electricity cost £511.90 + £73.47 and 20,000 kWh of gas £633.40 + £73.47 total £1292.25 for a year.

Is the 15% then taken off the £1292.25 or does the £1292.25 include the 15%?

This is so I can re-write my spread sheet in Excel.

I'm going to double check and get back to you, if that's ok.

    Thanks :)

    Hiya NowRetired,

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you, I wanted to get this right.

I've already got it a bit wrong! :o

All discounts are included in the unit rates. The discount is 20% -- not 15%

The bill on WarmAssist would be = £1,292 (irrespective of payment method)

No further discounts are applicable and you would pay at least 20% less than what you would on standard.

Thanks, I wondered, because according to my spread sheet I would have been paying less than I was before.

That makes a simpler spread sheet, I can just use the SC and unit rate, no need to work out discounts.
    (irrespective of payment method)

Does that mean I can use my Capital One cash back credit card?

    Just kidding. :rotfl:
