Hi,
We seem to be using a couple of GB a day of our internet allowance. I use it for FB, Twitter, and entering competitions. Kids use it for Runescape, Skype, FB and (allegedly) a small amount of YouTube.
Can anyone tell me what of these is the culprit for eating up the allowance, please.
Thanks.

How much runescape? it can be fairly graphic intensive, but to be honest, you download the content prior, so pretty much that is pulled from hdd content. The difference will be regular updates weekly, and if anything big is included graphical wise as an update. Playing itself wouldn't be a massive amount itself. I played for hours (back in the day
) and never found it compromising my net usage.
Skype with video calling, or just plain voice calling, or messaging?
Be realistic with you tube, even just a few HD videos can add up, especially when you have a few kids doing it daily.
Who is your isp? Do you have a usage monitor on their control panel which shows what area most is used up by?0 -
If your ISP has nothing to help, have a look at Networx

Did you use monitor or scrutiniser?0 -
Skype is likely to be a big contributor here depending on the type of activity. Decent quality Skype calling can use upwards of 1GB per hour depending on connection speed, etc.0

I'm with BT and can see the amount of usage from the day before/total amount used this month. The majority is download not upload. The breakdown isn't any more detailed than that. I wish it were - then I could see how much is being used when the kids are out! lol!
The Skype is with video. I think I need a lil chat with the kids

Also do you ever watch tv or movies over the internet? That can eat up bandwidth. My DD watches anime online, and she can easily get through 2GB if she watches a couple of shows.0

you can probably get unlimited than less than you are paying now, and not have to worry about it, video of any kind is probably the biggest culprit, unless there is some torrenting going on.!!
