PLEASE can anyone help me. it's costing me a fortune for my twintop to keep going in/out garage NOT to be correctly diagnosed. i have noticed a pattern emerging so will tell all in the hope that someone can help. Sept '12 Pressed ceiling switch to open roof just 'ping' noise despite boot screen being down. Car to garage diagnostics=boot switch and loom prob - replaced and tested by garage but weather didnt allow me to have top down until march this year HOWEVER, in Nov 12 car wouldn't start, jump started ok, then happened again and finally into garage=tried for 1 week=no diagnosis so replaced battery. all well until march when i went to open roof to clean interior (eaiser that way) and same 'ping' thing happened but eventually roof half opened and got stuck, mucked around eventually closed took to garage diagnostics said sticking parcel shelf lubricated and tested and given back two days ago wouldn't start - getting the pattern now???? i personally think it is the ceiling switch NOT turning off thereby trickling electricity until there is none left in the battery, garage said battery was weak all alternaters etc good but think it is the starter motor??? when i undid the bonnet there was corrosion around the battery it has only been on hter 3 months surely this indicates it IS an electrical fault??? PLEASE can someone shed some light on this i am due to heathrow on weds and desperately need this fixed. thanks... dusky husky

Hi, Have you tried the Astra twintop forum ?. I can't post the link on here but there are some very clever people on there who can give advice on sorting problems, and some even offer free assistance if you live locally to them :-)0

We had the sticking half way problem and I can't remember what caused it but got the answer on the TT forum.
Might have been the sensor that tells if the boot screen is in place.
We sold the car soon after.0
