Hi All,

I can't work out which to get.

Kindle £69
Case Light thing £10

Or

Paperwhite £109

The paperwhite looks nice but I am trying to justify spending the extra money on it. I commute and have yet to find a fellow tuber with a paperwhite to be nosey.

I realise this is MSE so could be asking the wrong people here... :rotfl:

I have the paperwhite and love it i use mine mainly for reading at night and turn the main light off saving on electric.

Can you not go into a store and have a look at the Kindles and test them ?

my wife has the sony ereader with an external light, sometimes she has to mess about with it to get an even light on the screen, she now wants something thats side lit (not back lit) which has the advantage of the long life of the ereader. i know its a different brand but the lighting situation seems to be relevant.

I have the kindle and went into Currys to see the two side by side.

The difference apart from background light wasnt really noticable.

I think you can pick up a second hand touch online for about £50 these days so I would probably do that.

I second the paperwhite, moved from a kindle with a light in the case to the paperwhite and much prefer it.

My Kindle Keyboard with lighted case gave up the ghost just before the Paperwhite went on sale, it was a no brainer for me I love the Paperwhite and it's much lighter even in a case. Well worth the extra I say ...and I am a moneysaver honest!
