No active phone line although one was installed by former tenant - best option?

I am trying to sign up to internet in my new flat, which doesn't have a phone line active (although the previous tenants had one, which has been switched off).

Am I right in thinking that signing up to Madasafish is the best idea, since I can then switch to talktalk, or if they can't provide a line then I can switch to a different ISP or use Madasafish's own service?

Any help much appreciated! In particular confirmation that it is possible to switch from Madasafish to TalkTalk?

Cheers!

J.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

  • i have the same problem and madasafish only reconnect for free if the line is with a bt line. if not they will charge 115 quid. what i would do is pay the post office connection as they will allow to go to another provider straight away, and then subscribe to sky as they offer free internet/landline.
