Thought I'd share my failure yesterday on my H&B shop. I've had a few what I see as unsuccessful shops, cashier refusing a few coupons. Never have I had the manager called & always dreaded, well it's now happened.

Did a £20.00 H&B shop with a few other items, couldn't find my normal cashiers so tried a young lady. She scanned a few & then sat reading the back of the coupons, said 'Oh I need to void a few, I can't take what I've put through, I'll call for the manager.'
I said 'Don't worry just void everything & I'll leave it today I'm short of time,' asked for my coupons back, a fist full of them but she wouldn't give them to me & called for the manager. :eek:
A little (actually very) worried but staying calm & collective, he came over & voided some of the coupons. He then looked through what I had given, I quickly said 'I wasn't sure what I'm allowed to use so just handed over what I have for the young lady to try.' He explained 1 different coupon per transaction & 2 50pts would be ok. He said 'They've had people just taking the pixx' :eek: I said 'sorry I didn't know I thought because I'd bought £20.00's of H&B I'd be allowed to use at least 2 x £2.50ones of each. He said 'No 1 per transaction.' I then suggested if I would be better off doing my H&B shops in £10.00 goes & he agreed.
I then asked what the policy is about coupons so I know in future as I don't want to get in trouble Told me they have the 10% rule, he looked through my coupons & said he wouldn't take my newspaper one but the rest are fine but not in 1 shop.
I had my whole shopping voided apart from my little boys treat.
Felt this was a very positive experience for me.
I do hope all managers are like this, I was going to ask him if there were any coupons hiding around the store that he could give me to maximise my saving. But didn't want to push my luck.

If your still here moral of the story is if this happens to you:

1) Be confident, collective, friendly, act as if you don't know anything.
2) Remember it's not up to you to know what's allowed to be scanned.
3) Act as if you want to do right in future by asking about the policy.
4) Act really sorry, innocent & apologetic, sweet as can be.
5) Don't be frightened to have the whole transaction cancelled.
6) Managers are just people doing their job not all monsters.
7) Most of all turn every negative into a positive & get back in the game.

kronen - that was scary but u handled it very well. what a lesson to be learned. i am always fear to death if interrogated by supervisor/ manager, will do at all cost to avoid them. however, if u r confidence and psychologically prepared, nothing can take u by surprise. thanks for sharing this, very helpful.

Kronen well done ive had a supervisor called twice once on a H&B shop another on a clothes shop. Each time the supervisor voided everything and said you can use ONE voucher. I smiled sweetly and said i think ill leave it, reached over to get my coupons and made to leave. the HANDB supervisor looked shocked and said "what you dont want any of it?!" i siad "no thanks!" (still smiling sweetly) the clothing lady was just as shocked that i left everything but i never stopped smiling at her its the smile that throws them

You mean, an SA said she saw one person take 2 full boxes and didnt say anything......................sounds unbelievable that......

managed to pick up 6 so beautiful booklets today - no h&b yet so still on the look out for those!

p.s. all the rash caused by olay mask has gone, hydrocortisone worked wonder again.

As i didnt have the full total when i first rang, i didnt talk to them much, i sid i would come back with the total after picking them up from my daughters houses(help the compensation claim).....but they were going to send someone for them.....need to negotiate my refund first though.

Theyre lined up in 2's along the spare bedroom window cill at the moment.

Its made way for the new Addidas and Exclamation(was it)

maybe it was a colleague of the person who works at Tescos. I know a few tesco staff who wouldnt think twice of taking 2 boxes and putting them on ebay. I have also seen used tesco uniform for sale on ebay but that's another story.
