Firefox choppy flash video high cpu usage

The latest flash update 11.7 has made watching flash video content choppy (audio OK) on my laptop. I checked CPU usage and it was 90-100%.
So I switched to Chrome which seems to be OK, as the CPU usage is less than 90% when playing flash video.
Is this a common problem on older machines? Are there any work arounds, apart from using different browser?
I use Avast and Malwarebytes for security.
Intel Core Duo T1700 1.8Ghz, 4GB RAM

I wouldnt say your machine specs would struggle with Flash. I would guess its a performance bug with firefox. What version are you using?0

No, it's a common problem with Firefox. Chrome tends to perform much better on Windows. In my experience.0 -
