Are the own brand £5 ones ok for toasting? What is the difference compared to £20 toasters etc.

I don't think there's that much difference. One would hope that a twenty pound one would last at least four-times as long as a five quid one but I'm not sure that it's true, alas.0

I have a Kenwood toaster which cost about £20 and its rubbish. I have to turn the bread upside down half way during toasting otherwise the top bit of the bread doesn't toast.I hate migraines.0

I would keep an eye on ebay local deals and free cycle. If you are ok with second hand.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0

Tesco value toaster is fine....it just doesn't look as nice as a £20 toaster.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I preferred our old £10 Tesco one to the £70 one that OH was insistent on buying, as it would 'fit in with the kitchen'

I should hope all toasters are okay for toasting
. I've had my simple but smart black one from @sda, which cost about a fiver, for a couple of years. My previous £25 one lasted maybe a year, so I know which I'd buy in future. 0 -
I've had my toaster for around 18 months and I think it needs replacing, but I would have thought things like kettles and toasters would last years!
Argos always seem to have some on sale, but I don't believe a lot of stuff is genuinely on sale.
Thank you for the replies.0 -

Well, they used to last years. There's a lot of kettles from the 70s and 80s still in use. I'm currently drinking a cup of coffee I made with my roughly 34 year old electric kettle and honestly, compared to a new one, I'd put my money on this one being the one that still works in two years time.0 -

My dad took a slice of bread to the shops with him when he was buying a new toaster and tried it in all of the models he liked as his old toaster didn't toast the top of his bread and having to turn it drove him mad!
