Returned Direct Debit. Lloyds TSB and 02

Hi,

02 tried to take my pay monthly money, which is £11.84 from my account today but I'd mixed up the dates, thinking that it was due to be taken at the end of the month, so I ended up getting a Returned Direct Debit on my statement stating £11.84 "out" and £11.84 "in". I only had £9 in the account and no money was taken out or put in.

Later on I put some money in my account and paid my 02 bill online, but I'm not sure if the money has gone towards paying my bill or was credited to my account, because it says in my payment history that I have a "pending payment amount" of 11.84 Credit, and that my direct debit payment was actually "received", when it wasn't.

So, I'm not sure how Returned Direct Debit works exactly? or if my bill has actually been paid.

How does it work?

Will 02 try and take the money out again without telling me?

How much will I have have to pay Lloyds TSB for the Returned Direct Debit and will I have to pay any overdraft fee's?

Mobile phone companies tend to try and get the payment again, now LSTB have a £10 buffer on their current accounts. But don't rely on it because I have read on here, despite having a buffer they still ''returned'' the direct debit to the mobile phone company for the sake of a few pence.
It should say on your LTSB online banking if it has been payed, ie if not, it'll say returned DD. To cover yourself you could make a manual payment to o2.
Looking at LTSB charges it looks if the returned item was for under £10 there should not be a bank charge.

It's say's on my online statement that I have a returned DD.

    The bill was over £10.

I've actually tried to pay the bill online with 02 but it say's the following on my bill summary, which I take it means that I still owe them £11.84?

    Latest bill£11.84

    Balance*-£11.84

    * Billed amount less any payments received

And it say's in my payment history that I have a "pending payment amount" of 11.84.

So has the money gone into my 02 account but not actually paid my bill off?

o2 may not actually know that the payment has been returned by the bank. So check again today or ring o2 on 202 and they should be able to see if their direct debit request was declined.
If I was you, pay what was due to o2 as a missed payment may be put on your credit file

    I will ring them ASAP.

    Thanks. :)

    EDIT

I rang 02 and Lloyds and everything is sorted now.

Lloyds let me off with the £10 Returned Direct Debit/Item fee because I was a first time offender. :P :)
