I think we've all been asking each other that for years.

I guess the best way to find out would be to ring up bailiffs who specialise in business debt.

Just remember that any decent auctions could have bidders from the discount nationals, have no right to return faulty stock, be large lots only, no delivery, and charge a buyers premium plus VAT on the hammer price.

That said, you can try go-dove.com but you have to read the terms carefully before applying for an account.

About half of the auction houses I visit sell bankrupt stock alongside house clearance items, antques and collectables etc. I've bought stuff from various high street stores that have closed that way.

Most areas have a few auction houses, they are not always easy to find but the local paper and a careful google search might help.

They're actually a lot less than they used to be. Most liquidators sell stock direct to buyers these days, it's cheaper and more efficient for them.

There are auction houses across the country and they aren't hard to find (get a Yellow Pages!). Some will have regular mixed sales with some bankrupt stock in, others will specialise.

Occasionally there will be short notice auctions or tenders of bankrupt stock, I'm on a few lists to get notified of them. They are also becoming less and less.

Bailliffs handle less stock these days too, they prefer to get cash other ways if they can.

It isn't always the best way to get a good deal either, especially if you don't know what you're doing.

Anyone got any idea of any auction houses in & around the Leeds area?
I know of Gary Don's but not really for me & Harrison's at Ossett is held on a Monday.

I've done a few searches but all came to nothing.

    TIA

Buy Saturday morning edition of Yorkshire Post, it used to be 4 pages of auctions, not that many these days but if you're local it's still worth checking for 4 or 5 Saturdays. There's quite a few closed down over the last few years and I know a couple who gave up doing auctions a while ago and sell liquidation stocks privately.

Cheers, never bought the Post, always gone for the YEP. Will have a gander next week. I've ventured over to Manchester on occasion, proven quite worth while but some days I just can't be bothered with the trek.

There are lots of commercial auction houses around the UK who sell bailiffs seizures, returns, end of lines and slightly damaged but perfectly useable goods.

I suspect that everyone is being cagey as I have found once people have a source of decent cheap goods they do not like to tell everyone else about it. Keep looking and you will find them.
