Ok before anyone says we are not doctors we cannot diagnose, i'm not asking for a medical diagnosis im asking whether you think I am right to be worried and seek a 2nd opinion.....
Ok so basically last Saturday I began to get a pins and needles type feeling in my left leg and a weak feeling behind my knee (like when you have your reflex tested and get hit with that little hammer). I also felt a little itchy behind the back of my knee and when I went to scratch it I noticed my vein was slightly bulged out behind the knee (varicose vein??). Since then the pain has gotten worse and its there 24/7, its like a numb feeling with pins and needles all the way up my left leg, its worse at night and its currently throbbing. My leg is warm to the touch and hurts the back of my knee when i bend my foot forward which is where the centre of the pain is.
On Tuesday I nipped into the walk in emergency care dpt at my local hospital as I was there anyway (my mums having radiotherapy). I showed the dr my vein and explained the situation and that i was worried incase it was a blood clot. He tested my reflex and told me to lie doen and lift both legs up he then said its deffo not a clot or to do with the vein (he said that was prob a mild varicose vein) and ive prob had a back injury and the sensation will go, if its not gone within a week go to your gp.
Its 2 days since then and the feeling has been here for 6 days now and if anything seems to be getting worse. I cant get an appt with my gp until mid next week. I dont know if im worrying for nothing and being silly or if i should be worried, its just when i read up on blood clots in the leg i seem to have alot of the symptoms. I dont want to turn up at AnE tomorrow and look like a hypocondriac (sp??) but at the same time i dont want to end up being sorry if it is something serious

My manager at work had tingling in his left hand and fingers for weeks; I kep telling him to go to Dr's but he didn't. He hasn't mentioned it for a while and I haven't seen him shake his hand so I asked him how it was and its gone. It was there whilst he had a pain in his shoulder which has also gone so must had been linked. I also has numbing in my hand once for weeks; that too went away. Not sure about skin feeling hot though; hope it goes away for you soon.0

If you're worried and that uncomfortable you need to see a doctor. Even if it's not a clot, it sounds like you need medical attention.
Trust your instincts and head to A&E. I'm sure they'd rather you went in to be checked if you're worried.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30000 -
Could you get an appointment any quicker if you saw a nurse at your gp surgery instead of one of the doctors? They would be able to check what is going on and hopefully offer you some reassurance and advice. At my local surgery if the nurse has any concerns she can refer up to one of the gps for their input on the situation.
Or it may be worth phoning NHS Direct and seeing what they advise you.
If the pain gets any worse though or you have any other symptoms then I would go straight to A&E. No-one will think you are a hypocondriac. They are there to help people when they have any health concerns
The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -

A doctor diagnosed a trapped nerve on an identical pain which would probably tie in well with the shoulder.
In OP's case, I would ring NHS direct then go to A&E again which would probably be on their advice. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

you are not confident in the first doctors diagnosis, so I would recommend you seek a second opinion from a different doctor.0

I would seek another opinion. You know your body and follow your gut instinct, chances are it's nothing serious, but you just never know! Sometimes I think you do have to push to be seen and seen again.Married my wonderful husband on 8/9/12 :j0
