British Gas withdrawn funding for Loft Insulation
Options
In 2012 numerous energy companies were advertising free loft insultation. We applied for this through British Gas and eventually a survey was completed by a company called Dyson Energy Services who informed a date would be arranged for installation.
After numerous phone calls and promises that they would attend we were told that they had no record of a survey being completed. We had the survey details in front of us and then we were told that funding had been withdrawn and the insulation would not e fitted.
We are still waiting for a reply from British Gas.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Also this is my first thread so please tell me if it is in the right area!?!

Think the funding ran out about last November except for under limited qualifying circumstances.0

You'll need to arrange/fit your own, unless there is a local scheme available. Still well worth it-you probably would have saved in fuel over the last 3 months far more than it would have cost you.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I had Cavity and Loft insulation fitted free, no benefits in this house, anyone could apply for it.
I originally applied with Eon in September, they let me down the same as BG did with the OP, I contacted BG in December and I had it installed at the end of March, they said they had extended the original expiry date due to unprecedented demand, you had to have it installed by the 1st Jan 2013.0 -

Unless you live in a rural community which is classed as a fuel poverty area.
Other options include the Green Deal, which is effectively a home energy efficiency improvement loan that you don't repay as any cost is paid up front by your electricity supplier and repaid through the savings you make on your electric bill. You will probably have to pay for a survey which costs around £99.00

- anyone trumpeting of the Green Deal should read this thread first and then re-consider promotion of the Green Deal

Thank you for your replies. The offer was on until November 2012 but you just had to apply before then and as long as you were registered the work would be completed.
I am still waiting for a reply from British Gas. Don't have much hope though.0 -

We had our insulation done by BG about 1 month ago. However we registered in December 2012 and because they were busy they agreed to honour the free service even though it could not be done until March 2013. However the offer did officially finish about December 2012.0 -
We had the insulation in the loft, they said the cavity wall stuff was not suitable for our house despite all the others in the terrace having it privately installed.
We applied by late nov as that was the limit at the time and it was installed beginning of march I think. The survey wasn't until feb and was one person and a clipboard. She looked in the loft, checked our upstairs ceilings (in case they put their foot through one I suppose) and told us we needed to empty the loft.
DS is on JSA and that entitled us to a 'loft clearance payment' although I have no idea why, as we cleared it ourselves and would have done, payment or no.0 -
BG are running a postcode insulation offer as well. Mine appeared on their website as one qualifying. I called into verify, said "yes we can do your loft", arranged surveyor to come round. When surveyor came round, miraculously my postcode was no longer valid!!. 5 different yes/no decisions were made on the same day. Today was told finally there was a mistake was made the staff member reprimanded & No i was not getting any insulation. This decision from senior managers, thanks, you guys caused me a flare up that's still ongoing, making me wait in the cold till you still couldn't make your minds up after 2 hours!!
BG you suck!!!!!. On a serious note i worry about some old girl/boy being sucked in, being told its free, then money asked for on the day.No one said it was gonna be easy!0
