How to unsubscribe from BT and others e-mails

I get e-mails occasionally (usually because I haven't ticked a box for marketing e-mails) but I can get rid of them by clicking on the unsubscribe link. Recently though I've started getting e-mails from BT (and others) but when I go to the unsubscribe link at the bottom it goes to a webpage which says
unable to find "intc.tra_ctionplatform.com"
Has anyone else come across this?

The easiest way is to set them up to go straight to your spam folder.
If that doesn't work and the organisation is a well-known one then you are going to have to hunt around their website for their marketing policy and find the address to send the unsubscribe email to.
If that doesn't work after two weeks phone the organisation up and tell them that you have tried to unsubscribe electronically and if they don't remove you, you will talk to the Information Commissioner.
If that doesn't work (and it normally doesn't get that far) then phone up the Information Commissioner's help line and ask what you are suppose to do.
The organisation I had the most problems with spamming me plus sending me postal mail was Oxfam.
They refused to leave me alone until I sent them a recorded delivery letter informing them my next course of action would be to report them to the Information Commissioner as I had asked them first over 6 months ago to cease contacting me.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Thanks, for your help. I've hunted through their site and couldn't find anything suitable - they only want to deal with people who have an account or product with them. I tried a live chat but they kept passing the buck and then disconnected me. I'll check over their website again.0

It does not exist , but do not click on unsubscribe links in emails EVER. Go to the web site (manually) and change your preferences to not receive "marketing" emails , probably 90%+ emails you don't want are not from where they purport to come from.blue-eyes1955 wrote: »I get e-mails occasionally (usually because I haven't ticked a box for marketing e-mails) but I can get rid of them by clicking on the unsubscribe link. The problem is I haven't subscribed to the majority of these things in the first place so I can't go back to them and just untick a box. I assume I've been on a particular website, haven't noticed a tickbox and then I get bombarded with all sorts of carp from all sorts of companies.
Anyway, I finally managed to e-mail BT and they've got back to me that they'll take me off their database.
Thanks for all your help0
