I was going to call up a little before 8 but noticed the lines close after 8, and don't have any PAYE reference or suchlike anyways to give them as haven't received that info myself yet from new workplace

You won't need it - they'll identify you from your National Insurance number.

  • So much conflicting info lol.

Well.....a fine would certainly be issued, and fair enough, to anyone that tried to claim knowing for certain that they're not entitled or never even had any card in the first place

Nowhere can I see so far, anything that says your card is invalid if your circumstances change on the website, or any old documents in my filing cabinet. So had I not even thought to google it, or anyone else that would just think to inform of Change Of Circumstances, but to then see they have a card, which looking at the card indicates that theres no reason it should be invalid...anyways I'm confused lol

Tigsteroonie.....yeah I can give them my NI Number to bring my records up, however to give them the info for my new place I need some PAYE info, or at least the full address etc of the main base (which isn't where I'm based at anyways
"If you've started working for an employer, tell the helpline your employer's full pay office address and PAYE tax reference when you get in touch. The PAYE reference should be on your latest payslip, or ask your employer if you're not sure."

I'll try to find that out tomorrow at least....if I can get anyone in the office that actually knows what they are doing that is lol
  • Thanks Thomas.....I just noticed you mentioned to contact the NHSBSA.

I'll have to try and find the contact number on there at work tomorrow and give them a buzz. Will post any info I have if find out anything for definite.
  • I've just found an old post from 2008 where someone has asked as they just received a card shortly after their partners salary changed

    Someone here has posted this
When we got our card our wages went above the limit due to a bonus my husband got but it does state you can carry on using the card until the expire date on it.
  • OK time to put this debate to bed. I used to work for capita who run the debt recovery process for the NHSBSA for incorrect claims.

You are entitled to claim free treatment regardless of your change in circumstance as long as at some point during the course of treatments your benefit is valid ie in date.

PLease note that your wife must hold her own valid TAx Credit Exemption Certificate which is the little white card. She is not covered by your card
  • thanks....that's great to know

yes the other half does still have her own valid (by date) card.

I'm still having a battle trying to get my paye reference info from HR who are based elsewhere, which I need to have to hand to give the Tax Credit Office my info to let them know the change of circumstances....whatta pavlova(!)

It also makes me convinced I should force/drag myself to dentist for my way out of date checkup too whilst I can I guess. When I was working as contracting, I got no pay for time off to do things like that, so was hard to justify my own trip (and being a wuss :))

    Thanks Metal Mickey

My pleasure. The whole process is an absolute disgrace as the vast majority of penalty charges are applied for genuine confusion about benefits as opposed to deliberate fraud. In other words ' easy targets'.
  • I just emailed the NHS exemption card people, as I moved in with a partner in July. They replied that if I qualified when the card was issued, I could continue to use it until it expires. Hope this helps!
