Landlords forwarding on post

Hi, just wondered if there is anything you can do to get your unhelpful ex-landlord to forward post on?

Moved out about three months ago, left a forwarding address asking for mail to be sent on, and wrote again a few weeks back asking again for mail to be sent on (there can't be much, have changed address personally with just about everyone I can think of) but nothing.

Is it a legal requirement? Is not forwarding it on, interferring with it?

It's just a case of not knowing if there is something waiting. I think the problem might be not having managed to re-let the flat yet there is no one there and they don't call to check on the mail themselves.

Is there anything I can do??

Theres a service the post office provide where they forward post on for you. I used it 5 years ago and it was £25 for 6 months then. Then the landlord won't have to do anything and you won't miss any of your post.

I agree, use the postal redirection service, that way you won't have to worry or stress about this problem.

Its not your landlords job to forward your post for you - if its important then you should use the royal mail redirection service.

It slaso likely that he has rented the place out again so the new tennants dont know who you are or your address.

Thanks for this, will look in to it. But what about the post that has already been delivered in the meantime??

The post which has already been delivered will have to go. You could try writing a polite letter to your ex landlord asking them to forward it on. Other than that if there were any important papers there you can ask for them to be re sent. If you start the redirection service it will take effect straight away.

Post already delivered - tough luck unless your ex-landlord decides to forward it. You should really have taken out the RM forwarding service, it's normally very good.

I highly doubt your unhelpful ex-landlord will forward post onto you. as its will be an expense to him/her.

do you live far? maybe you could pop around?

we moved out of our house a few months ago, had the RM redirection, but some post gets missed, so we popped around if we had a bill or something missing. When it was Easter we took some easter eggs around for the kids, just to keep the new owners happy, as they were keeping hold of our post.

Well the people who used to live in the house I now live in have had their post re-directed apparantly. Three months on, every day, still receiving their post. But the advice is noted and taken, thanks
