Yes, I was always told this, however I live in a hard water area and so my teapot not only gets stained, but coated in limescale - and bits of limescale in your tea really ruins it
I use the soda crystals method myself and have to do the pot around every month. I leave it at least 24 hours - so I have a spare pot too0 -
I find nothing beats one of those laundry booster powders like Oxy stain remover. I used LIDL's own brand and it works a treat.0

I have just cadged one of OH's denture tablets so will try that out first
