VW DSG oil price nightmare

I bought a brand new vw caddy maxi life 2.0tdi with DSG gearbox. Astounded at price of gearbox oil change after 40k.
Main dealer quote £346.00!!!! And to make it worse Plymouth VW did not have the oil in stock so have to go back to have the job done. So why did they not have this oil available for the service which was pre booked?

Yeah. And it's if anything more expensive at independents, because most of them don't have the equipment and the small number that do need to recoup the cost. If you read the workshop manual, you can see why it's so expensive: lots of labour, at a main agent's savage rate.

Do it your self next time and save a bundle, but do make sure you do it every 40k miles as they do tend to go bang with poor maintenance.
