Ford Finance and a new job

Hi there, 2 questions, one post.

I'm looking to buy a new/newish car soon and I have never gone through the finance route with dealers.

My personal preference is for a Ford and I am looking to finance with them.

Whilst I know credit ratings are juggled and muddled with each company that uses them, mine certainly seems in shape with only a small loan and one credit card on the books and no missed payments. However, I always worry about finance, more so than with a car as, if I go through all the effort of negotiating a deal, only to be shot down by some credit hiccup, I'll be a little miffed to say the least. So, my first question is: from experience, could anyone share their story with Ford Finance? Are they picky?

On top of this, I now have a new job, all well and good and worth an extra £12.5k a year, hence the new car...as a reward maybe. I have proof of my salary of course, but I havent been paid the new salary yet so, would I be right in thinking I could jeopardise my chances if I apply for finance before I've been there over a month and got everything in order?

In my experience with ford credit, who finance new cars, think santander do ford direct and used cars, but even with both, over the people I've spoke to there fairly easy and not too picky, most they asked me for was a guarantor, but that was the first ever thing on finance and i was only 19, so expected, but since then no problems at all, at the end of the day is secured on the car, so don't pay, they get the car back, so in summary:
there not too picky
