Orange Broadband Problem...ahhh

we have been signed up to orange broadband for nearly 3 months and the last few days we have had problems connecting to the interenet.

The two green lights on the modem are solid but one minute it works and the next (especially in the evening), it doesnt.

Error 0718 - cannot connect to remote computer. connection terminated

I have spoken to orange twice in 3 days and they keep saying, leave it until tomorrow and try again. ITS NOT WORKING.

£0.50p per minute to call. £14.99 a month and for what????

    lucy_w86,

if it makes you feel any better I do get the same problem (my use is in the afternoon before the kids get home) but not that often. All I do is as Orange say to you just leave for a while and try again. Have had about six will not connect sometimes, then it works ok.Touch wood not had a problem for a few weeks.Did not adjust any settings or anything.I found to save my phone bill I called in to the Orange shop and asked if they would call for me they seemed happy to do.Try say no to 0870 sometimes they have geographical numbers available to call Orange.
I like the Orange system they always tell me I have the wrong extension but won't transfer me so re-dial the extension they suggest only to be told NO you need ext ????? which was the one I was on first, don't you just love customer service.
Wish you well with your problem though.
    Nick

    Hi,

    Thanks for that

    Its a disgrace...nothing but problems.

You are tied into a 12 month contract though arent you? How do you get out of that?

You are correct, but if you read on the link I gave, there are people who have escaped. If Orange are not delivering on their side of the bargain, then THEY are in breach of contract.

In truth after disastrous speeds last week, I have noted some improvements this week. I have changed nothing, and apart from the evenings where there is still a very significant slowdown, I am back to 6+Mb.

  • My mum has been having the same trouble for weeks. They have blamed BT saying its a fault on the line despite the fact she's had BT do TWO line tests which proved nothing was wrong with the line. Shes now ended her contract and demanded a rebate as her internet has been barely useable for 4 months.

Just because your on a 6mb connection don't mean you'll get a 6mb download speed. It depends what your downloading, Where the download is coming from, some people put restrictions on the speed you can download from their server and also what time of day as somtimes are more busy than others. I've been with orange from the start of my internet and have had no problems. Ive even been getting rebates for none usage.
Don't listen to the bad things about Vista its the best

Just because it's free don't mean it's good

    Ditch Norton Now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :wall:

Just Because you read it some where don't mean it's right ;)

Yup, I know - I am quoting speeds from Thinkbroadband's speed tester!

Ditto (almost) - which is the only reason I am still with them. After this last "upgrade", if normal service is not maintained at the end of my contract, I'm off! If you are having no problems, then good for you - but your "rebates" comments suggest that all is not totally OK!
