Renewing Rented Contract

I had a letter through the other day which is asking for me to renew my tenancy agreement.
Before, when the initial term has lapsed, I just carry on under the same terms until I need to move out. The letter says this:
Can I confirm this is saying that paying an "administration fee" to set up a new contract for a fixed period is optional. I can carry on paying monthly as usual?
I don't plan on moving any time soon and have a good relationship with the LL so don't think they will suddenly turn around and kick me out either.
I understand the fee will guarantee my tenancy for a fixed period but I don't see the need to pay the fee just to carry on living here. On the odd chance that the LL will decide to serve me notice, then so be it, but highly unlikely.
Would like to hear thoughts from Landlords too - do you prefer to have someone guaranteed living in your property or is monthly periodically okay?

Should you decide not to renew your tenancy it will be automatically taken that you wish to continue on a monthly periodic tenancy term until such time as you or your landlord service notice in accordance with statue.

Correct, assuming you're in England. Your tenenacy hasn't expired so doesn't need renewing. Loads of information on here and Shelter website is good -

I would say that you're correct too.
By the way the paragraph reads, it sounds like you can live there month by month rather than a 6-12-24 month contract.
I'm sure someone else will also be able to confirm.0 -
Have a word directly with the landlord if you are happy there and are wanting to stay it wouldbe better for both ofyou to part company with the letting agent explain to him/her that they are wanting to charge a renewal rather than go onto a SPT .its better you get in first before the agent has chance to muddy the waters .0
