in Credit cards
I have not owned a credit card before and have moved address quite a bit. I recently tried to get a mobile contract but was rejected when they did the credit check, so decided it was about time to try and sort out my credit history.
Using this website I applied for the aqua credit card and was accepted but only got a 250 limit.
To keep things simple I was considering setting up a direct debit, or manually transferring 250 each month to my girlfriends account as part payment of our rent.
My question is, will simply transferring 250 into another bank account and then paying off in full the next day actually improve my credit history (almost seems too simple), or is it actually better for my credit history to use it as a debit card (payment on plastic only).
I would imagine it should make no difference how the money is spent as long as it is paid back in full, but it seems that for reward cards (as the aqua card is) simply transferring the credit card limit to an account and then paying off in full is a very easy way to take advantage of the rewards on offer.

Aqua won't allow you to do money transfers to your account. And if it did, as it would count as a cash transaction, you would pay fees, interest, not get the cashback and not do your credit history any favours.
Use the card to buy your normal shooping, petrol etc and pay off in full each month.0 -
Brilliant. Thanks for your answer, and I will do0
